Sexual Health

Young people, that is most students, in particular females under the age of 20, bear the burden of sexually transmitted infections (STI) today. Today 1 in 9 people have had an STI and there are up to 25 sexually transmitted infections; 8 have no symptoms and 4 are incurable. The only contraceptive which protects against pregnancy and STI's is the condom.

Condoms are available free of charge from the Guild's Welfare & Equal Opportunities Officer, the Brook Clinic and Student Health. If you think you may have an STI make an appointment to see your doctor, or make an appointment at the GUM Clinic (Genito Urinary Medicine) at the Royal Liverpool Hospital as soon as possible.
