RAG and Community
RAG sands for Raising and Giving, so it is essentially the part of the Students' Union that raises money for other charities and organisations locally and in the wider community.
The RAG Officer and the RAG Committee organise events and fundraisers during the year, you may remember the Irish Night in November and Children in Need, where Bishop Ian Stewart (Assistant Vice Chancellor) was hand cuffed to Pudsey Bear until enough money was raised for his realise.
RAG have got several things planed for you during 2007/2008 so watch this space!!!
Because of Charity Law (some thing called Ultra Vires) a charity can not give money given to its self to another charity. RAG exists as a pseudo independent organisation within the Students' Union (with its own Constitution) so to allow the Students' Union to raise money specifically for another organisation.
