Position: President (Full-time sabbatical position)
Job Description:(adapted from Liverpool Hope Students’ Union Constitution).
The President will subscribe to and promote the aims and objectives of the Constitution.
The President will rule upon all matters requiring interpretation in this Constitution.
The President will cause the Democratic, Accountability and Quality Assurance functions of the Union to occur.
The President will, ex-officio, be a Governor of the Liverpool Hope University College and delegation leader to the National Union of Students' Conference.
The President will be ex-officio a member of all committees, clubs, societies and sub committees of the Students' Union. S/he will be Chair Holder of the SCEC and the GM and the Executive Council unless other arrangements, required by the Constitution, are in place.
The President will be required to attend a range of College and other committee meetings at which no other office of the Liverpool Hope SU will be permitted to attend. Her/his attendance at these meetings should receive the highest priority.
The President will report to the Executive and Union Councils at appropriate intervals as required by the Councils. S/he will report to the SCEC at every meeting.
The President will be the political representative of the Union in dealings with the College and external organisations.
The President will be the sole officer of the Union permitted to liaise with the press unless s/he specifically delegates this task to another named Officer or Staff Member.
The President will be required to perform any other duties bestowed upon her/him by Executive and Union Council.
The President will be required to oversee the advertisement of the convening of the Special Congress and any general meetings to a level of satisfaction by Executive and Union Council. He/she shall also be responsible for advising the site reps of their duties in this area.
The President shall be the sabbatical officer with responsibility for the student media, or his/her sabbatical nominee.
Position: Vice-President (Full-time sabbatical position)

The Vice President will subscribe to and promote the aims and objectives of the constitution.
The Vice President (Welfare and Education) will promote and co-ordinate all aspects of the Union's Policy and practice (both reactive and proactive) in regard to the individual and collective welfare of the Student Community. In doing so s/he shall, as far as is reasonable, ensure the confidentiality of those becoming clients.
The Vice President will, as far as is reasonably possible, deputise for the President in all matters during her/his absences that are due to Annual Leave or protracted sickness or caused by the office of President falling vacant.
The Vice President will be Ex Officio a member of all committees, clubs, societies and sub committees of the Students' Union. S/he will serve on the QASC and Discipline Sub Committee of the Council.
The Vice President will be required to attend a range of College and other committee meetings at which no other office of the Hope SU will be permitted to attend. Her/his attendance at these meetings should receive the highest priority.
The Vice President will be required to perform any other duties bestowed upon her/him by Executive and Union Council.
Exectutive members
Athletic Union President
KEY TASKS
The Athletic Union President will, in addition to the Duties and Responsibilities outlined above:
Promote the work of the Athletic Union at Hope.
Promote participation in Sport at Hope.
Co-ordinate the diversity of Sporting Activity with regard to Fixtures, transport, Training, use of Hope facilities.
Chair meetings of the Athletic Union and the AU Executive.
Liaise with Staff of the Union on the day-to-day running of the AU and its affiliates.
Be the promoter of the AU dinner and other annual AU events.
Oversee the proper awarding of Colours and other honour.
Liaise with external bodies to which the AU is affiliated or with who the AU has business.
Be or appoint the promoter of AU events held within the Union Building.
Clubs and Societies President
KEY TASKS
To set up networks of distribution of posters, leaflets, information packs and other material issued by the Union;
Work with other officers during campaigns etc to maximise the dissemination of information to the Student Community;
Seek imaginative ways to promote the Union to its membership and beyond.
Co-ordinate the marketing of approved information amongst the Student Community.
RAG and Community Services Officer
KEY TASKS
Be or appoint the President to co-ordinate the work of the RAG committee;
Plan and co-ordinate the organisation of RAG week, including the recruitment of students and volunteers, and choosing the RAG beneficiaries;
Encourage the involvement of Hope students with the community and report community issues to Executive and Union Councils;
Develop and promote the Students’ Union and College as a community in itself.
Union Secretary
KEY TASKS
To take minutes of all Executive and Union Council meetings and record as appropriate in a concise manner;
To provide free access to these minutes for the membership;
To send copies of the minutes to the College Secretary’s office;
To collect agenda items from Council members and produce an agenda for all Council meetings and to post these minutes well in advance of the meetings in the Union building.
KEY TASKS
Co-ordinate the allocation of resources, transport, facilities, training etc to any Clubs or Societies affiliated to the Union;
Promote participation in and the diversity of cultural activities at Liverpool Hope;
Chair the Clubs and Societies Forum (CSF) and promote its work;
Be or appoint the promoter of CSF events;
Represent the needs and issues of CSF membership at Executive Council meetings and provide feedback of CSF events to Council members.
Entertainments Officer
KEY TASKS
Devise, promote and co-ordinate an entertainment programme within the budget allocated by the Executive and Union Councils;
Ensure a varied entertainment programme for the whole student community at Hope;
Make recommendations to the Executive and Union Councils on Entertainment issues;
Liase with Union staff and the Marketing officer on entertainment marketing, promotion etc issues;
Co-ordinate and encourage the existence of the Entertainments Sub-committee which will in turn report to Executive and Union Councils.
Equal Opportunities Officer
KEY TASKS
To represent disadvantaged groups in all areas of student life, ensuring that the equal opportunities policy of the Students’ Union is upheld;
To liase with all liberation campaigns officers to ensure equal opportunities issues are identified in all Union campaigns and represent all liberation officers needs at Executive Council meetings.
To liase with the College’s Equal Opportunities officers, Chair the Equal Opportunities Working Party in the Students’ Union and sit on the College’s Equal Opportunities Working Party when appropriate.
To liase with Sabbatical officers to ensure Equal Opportunities training is provided for elected officers and staff.
Council Members
Athletic Union Vice-President
KEY TASKS
The Athletic Union Vice-President will, in addition to the Duties and Responsibilities outlined above, assist the Athletic Union President in their duties including:

To have regard for the needs of Women students at Hope and represent these to the Union Council and authorities in Hope;
Be in touch with local, regional and national issues affecting the welfare of women at Hope;
Liase with the Equal Ops officer and other liberation officers on Union Council and attend meetings of the Union’s Equal Ops working party;
Encourage participation of women students in Union and College activities.
Academic Affairs Officer
KEY TASKS
Attend relevant College meetings where appropriate (Staff Student Liaison, Award Management Committee, BA/BSc Award Management Committee (if VP is unavailable);
Assist the Vice President with establishing and running the Course Rep system including the training of course reps;
Liase with other education officers and the heads of staff/student liaison committees from the various academic departments.
Aigburth Site Officer
KEY TASKS
Act as a point of contact for Aigburth residents and represent their views at Union Council meetings;
Have particular regard for the needs of first years/ ‘freshers’ ;
Must work with Hall Reps and Hall Tutors;
Must attend and encourage the organisation of residency meetings in conjunction with the Director of Student Services and the Senior Resident on campus.
Allen Site Officer
KEY TASKS
Act as a point of contact for Allen residents and represent their views at Union Council meetings;
Have particular regard for the needs of first years/ ‘freshers’;
Must work with Hall Reps and Hall Tutors;
Must attend and encourage the organisation of residency meetings in conjunction with the Director of Student Services and the Senior Resident on campus.
KEY TASKS
To monitor the College and the Union with regard to their implementation of Anti-Racist policies;
To be aware of Equalities issues – especially with regard to the treatment of Ethnic Minority students at Hope;
To be a point of reference for students who have grievances by virtue of racist or prejudicial treatment;
Liase with other Council members in combating racism that affects the membership;
Seek ways to increase the participation of Ethnic Minority Students in the activities of the College and the Union.
To work with the Equal Opportunities officer and other liberation campaign officers on equal opportunities issues.

Act as a point of contact for Everton residents and represent their views at Union Council meetings;
Have particular regard for the needs of first years/ ‘freshers’;
Must work with Hall Reps and Hall Tutors;
Must attend and encourage the organisation of residency meetings in conjunction with the Director of Student Services and the Senior Resident on campus.
General Union Officer
KEY TASKS
Unlike all the other positions, the General Rep has no specific portfolio of tasks. The key task of the General Rep is to take on roles where no specific portfolio exists or to assist in areas that need additional support as well as to help other Council members with their portfolios of work.
A General Rep must be aware of vacant positions on council or areas that are not covered by existing Union work.
General Reps are expected however in their manifesto to denote an area which they are likely to focus their support.
International Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
To have regard for the needs of International students at Hope and represent these to the Union Council and authorities in Hope;
Be in touch with local, regional and national issues affecting the welfare of International students at Hope;
Liase with the Equal Ops officer and other liberation officers on Union Council and attend meetings of the Union’s Equal Ops working party;
Encourage participation of international students in Union and College activities;
Produce and co-ordinate a Union-wide strategy for welcoming, inducting and supporting International Students;
Act as a contact point for International Students to measure and respond to their needs;
Ireland Officer
KEY TASKS
To have regard for the needs of Irish students at Hope and represent these to the Union Council and authorities in Hope;
Be in touch with local, regional and national issues affecting the welfare of Irish students at Hope;
Liase with the Equal Ops officer and other liberation officers on Union Council and attend meetings of the Union’s Equal Ops working party;
Encourage participation of Irish students in Union and College activities;
Produce and co-ordinate a Union-wide strategy for welcoming, inducting and supporting Irish Students;
Act as a contact point for Irish Students to measure and respond to their needs;
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
Represent the needs of the LGB Community to Union and Executive Councils;
Act as a contact point for International Students to measure and respond to their needs;
Be in touch with local, regional and national events affecting the LGB community at Hope;
Seek ways to increase the participation of LGB students in the activities of the College and the Union;
To report necessary issues for the College’s Equal Ops working party through the President;
Must attend the Union’s Equal Ops working party.
Mature Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
To have regard for the needs of Mature students at Hope and represent these to the Union Council and authorities in Hope;
Be in touch with local, regional and national issues affecting the welfare of Mature students at Hope;
Liase with the Equal Ops officer and other liberation officers on Union Council and attend meetings of the Union’s Equal Ops working party;
Encourage participation of Mature Students in Union and College activities.
Part-time Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
To work with the Vice President, and Education officers to work on Part-time student related issues;
To monitor the issues related to being a Part-time student and to bring these to the attention of Council and College;
To attend meetings when appropriate which deal with Part-time student issues.
Post-graduate Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
To work with the Vice President, and Education officers to work on post-graduate related issues;
To monitor the issues related to being an post-graduate and to bring these to the attention of Council and College;
To attend meetings when appropriate which deal with post-graduate issues.
To promote post-graduate events that are held by the Students’ Union.
Students’ With Disabilities Officer
KEY TASKS
Monitor the needs of the disabled community at Liverpool Hope and represent those needs to the Union Council and College authorities;
Seek ways to increase the participation of disabled students in the activities of the College and the Union;
To report necessary issues for the college’s Equal Ops working party through the President;
Must attend the Union’s Equal Ops working party.
Undergraduate Students’ Officer
KEY TASKS
To work with the Vice President, and Education officers to work on post-graduate related issues;
To monitor the issues related to being an undergraduate and to bring these to the attention of Council and College;
To attend meetings when appropriate which deal with undergraduate issues.
To promote undergraduate events that are held by the Students’ Union.
